Playwriting

Playwriting, to me, is an act of trust. Audiences step into an intimate space and let you lead them somewhere real.

I try to find the small and domestic inside the big issues of the day: a conversation over dinner that holds the weight of a whole community’s hopes; a single room that contains the world.

Crossing Points

Crossing Points is a cycle of four monologues. Follow four characters as they interrogate what it means to live as a South Asian in the UK.

Ismail’s back for another pub quiz. Layla’s saving lives on the paediatrics ward. Safwan has showed up to therapy. Yasser is moving house. Each are asking; “where do we belong?”

Crossing Points was first performed at the Corpus Playroom, from the 12-16 of May.

5 ★
“Whilst Crossing Points’ time at Corpus is over, this production deserves the biggest stage there is, and I sincerely hope we see it return in the future.”
The Tab

4.5 ★
“The play masterfully explores the experience of what happens when your imagined future is shattered, and all you can do is make the most of the fragments.”

Scratch Nights & Showcases

My work has been performed across the Cambridge student theatre circuit, from scratch nights to other showcases of new writing.

The Polycule and The Flop was performed at the Dryden Society (Trinity College, Cambridge) Scratch Night.

A four-hander, it follows a group of friends at the close of their university days. As wine flows and courses come and go, relationships are strained and past tensions resurface.
